Website operator

The website is operated by Francesco Pace, a natural person in Italy, as the maintainer of the independent ESPectre open-source project. See Legal information for the current project and commercial status.

Using the website

You may browse the public content and use the browser tools only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these terms. Do not interfere with the website, attempt unauthorized access, misuse reporting channels, or use the service to harm other people, devices, or networks.

Authorized devices and networks

Use Flash, Configure, Monitor, OTA, MQTT, and related tools only with devices, brokers, networks, and spaces that you own or are expressly authorized to administer. Wi-Fi credentials or physical access do not, by themselves, establish consent to monitor people. Follow the project’s security and responsible-use guidance and all applicable laws.

Browser-tool risks

Firmware installation can erase or reconfigure a device. Provisioning and runtime controls can change Wi-Fi, MQTT, sensing, and update settings, and an interrupted operation can leave a device unavailable until recovered. Confirm the target, preserve anything you need, protect credentials, and keep a supported recovery path before proceeding.

Open-source software

Downloading or using ESPectre software does not grant rights beyond the applicable license. First-party source is generally available under GPLv3, while individual files, dependencies, firmware builds, media, and third-party components may carry separate terms. No online sale or automatic commercial license

The website does not currently provide checkout, payment, ordering, or automatic contract formation. Commercial-licensing content is an invitation to discuss a possible agreement, not a binding offer. A commercial license exists only when the identified parties sign a separate written agreement that defines scope, rights, fees, and applicable terms.

No safety or identity guarantee

ESPectre detects changes in the radio environment. It does not identify people, count them, prove that a space is empty, or replace a safety-certified presence, security, medical, or emergency system. Documentation, examples, compatibility notes, roadmaps, and performance results are informational and may change as the project evolves.

Availability and warranties

The website and browser tools are provided on an “as available” basis. To the maximum extent permitted by law, no guarantee is made that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, suitable for a particular deployment, or compatible with every device, browser, broker, controller, or network. Applicable open-source licenses contain their own warranty provisions.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the website operator is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising from unauthorized deployment, incompatible hardware, lost configuration, unavailable networks, third-party services, modified builds, or use contrary to the documentation. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability, remedies, or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

External services and links

The website links to GitHub and other third-party resources and may depend on browser, device, network, or broker capabilities outside the operator’s control. Third-party services apply their own terms and privacy practices. A link does not imply endorsement of every statement or service on the destination site.

Changes

These terms may be updated when the website, project operator, commercial model, or applicable requirements change. Material commercial terms will be stated in the applicable written agreement rather than changed through this page.

Applicable law

These website terms are governed by Italian law, without limiting mandatory protections or jurisdiction rules that apply to consumers or other users under applicable law.
