Commercial licensing

Embed ESPectre’s shared sensing layers in proprietary ESP-IDF firmware under separate commercial terms.

FOR PRODUCT TEAMS

Choose the licensing path that fits your firmware.

ESPectre is available under GPLv3 for open-source use. A separate commercial agreement is available when GPLv3 source-disclosure obligations do not fit a proprietary product.

TWO PATHS

Open source or proprietary.

The sensing engine is the same; the obligations and permitted distribution model differ.

GPLv3

Open-source firmware

Use, study, modify, and redistribute ESPectre while complying with GPLv3, including the corresponding-source obligations that apply to firmware and applications containing it.

Public license · source-disclosure obligations
BOUNDARY

ESPHome remains GPLv3

The ESPHome C++ frontend combines with the GPLv3-only ESPHome runtime and is not part of the commercial firmware SDK path.

Third-party terms continue to apply
INTEGRATION SCOPE

Add sensing without handing over your product architecture.

Your firmware can keep ownership of product behavior while ESPectre supplies the reusable sensing path.

ESPectre

Sensing engine

CSI capture, calibration, detection, runtime events, and the supported shared integration layers.

YOUR PRODUCT

Product behavior

Boot, networking, storage, OTA, UI, application logic, and the way motion events affect the product.

TERMS

Defined agreement

Commercial coverage is limited to material the maintainer can license and does not replace third-party license, trademark, or media terms.

ENGINEERING SERVICES

Integration support for product firmware.

Optional engineering services can help product teams integrate, validate, and adapt ESPectre within an existing ESP-IDF firmware architecture.

PLAN

Architecture review

Identify the appropriate SDK boundary, detector profile, resource budget, and ownership split for the product.

INTEGRATE

Firmware integration

Support CSI capture, runtime lifecycle, event mapping, build integration, and adaptation to product-specific services.

VALIDATE

Validation and tuning

Evaluate CPU and memory use, reconnect behavior, sensing performance, calibration, and deployment-specific constraints.

Engineering services are scoped and quoted separately. A commercial license does not include support, maintenance, or service-level commitments unless they are expressly included in a written agreement.

NEXT STEP

Tell us what you are building.

Share the ESP32 target, the ESPectre layers you expect to use, whether the firmware will remain proprietary, and any integration support you need. Do not include credentials, pairing codes, or device secrets.
